On Wednesday afternoon, 29 April 2015, Charles University’s Faculty of Law, hosted a lecture which questioned whether the European Court of Human Rights (EUCHR) could act as a Constitutional Court for Europe. Professor Geir Ulfstein, who lecturers at the University of Oslo at the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights, has massively contributed to the field of European law through his numerous academic publications. For this reason, the event was attended by numerous European legal scholars in order to hear what the Professor had to say about the possibility of supranational European Constitutional entity.

The second Summer School of Experimental Surgery was organized under the auspices of the Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen, Charles University in Prague. The course lasted two weeks from 6th of July to 17th of July 2015 and aimed not only to demonstrate experimental surgery in practical exercises, but also introduced students to the possibilities, limits and boundaries of the field.

When I first arrived into the closed poetry evening on the transnational migration of form with Jahan Ramazani, I didn’t quite know what to expect. A group of around twenty of us gathered into the classroom, decorated with bookshelves all along the walls. However, the moment Mr. Ramazani began to speak, I knew that I had the privilege of listening to one of the academic greats of our generation.

I must admit, before attending this ceremonial meeting in the Karolinum on the 8th of December, I had never heard of the Templeton Prize. A rudimentary bit of research prior to attending had me blown away. The award has an incredibly rich history of remarkable recipients, among them the very first Templeton Prize winner, Mother Teresa in 1973, and 2013 winner Desmond Tutu.

Shotwell Professor of Global Political Economy and Director of the Center on Global Economic Governance at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, New York and a chairman of the Executive and Supervisory Committee of CERGE-EI in Prague. Czech economist was recognized for his work on economic issues in labor, development and the transition from socialist to market economies.

Recently I had the pleasure of visiting a temporary exhibition at the Wallenstein Riding School in Malá Strana, Open the Gates of Paradise, The Benedictines in the Heart of Europe 800-1300, prepared in collaboration with the Catholic Theological Faculty of Charles University in Prague. This fascinating exhibit gave an amazing insight into the growth of Benedictine monasteries from the 9th century onward in Central Europe.
