Czech study in Nature shows how to improve vaccination rates
"Many think that only about half of medical doctors believe in vaccines against Covid-19. In fact, it's 90 percent! Communicating this is a simple way of increasing vaccination rates," summarize Michal Bauer and Julie Chytilová, co-authors of a new study in Nature.
Medici PRO Očkování (Med Students for Vaccination) is an initiative begun more than three years ago before anyone had heard of Covid-19. The pandemic has put the group front and centre. It’s aim is to provide the public with honest and factual information about why it’s important to get the jab. Forum spoke to the organisation’s Jaromír Astl.
With vaccines widely available in Europe, it is easy to forget, even just a year-and-a-half later, the urgency with which they were developed. Duncan Matthews, an expert on IP law at Queen Mary University of London, was a key guest at the WIPO Summer School at Charles University. One of his lectures focused on the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine.
“Pharmacy is unique because it both opens a door for students to learn more about the natural sciences and provides the stability of a good career,” says the dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Tomáš Šimůnek. in the following Forum interview, he discusses not only life at the faculty but also vaccines against the coronavirus.
